We have met Mister MistMeister, the water elemental, who held 20 humans in stasis for 400 years, and we are trying to make sure that doesn't happen again. Or, even worse, next time it could be hobbits.

The funny thing is that in "Malazan Book of the Fallen" the Empire's assassins are also called The Claw. Are there other Assassin's Guilds called The Claw?

On their way back from Mr Muffin's Second Hand Store Ari, Caper, and Clairen met Edge Bravestone, a cautious fighter. Caper said "Well met" and invited him to his hobbit hole for elevenses. They had a floral mix that, when steeped, thickens the air with love and tea infusing aromas from across the Four Marches.
Caper mentioned that he had heard of an interesting tree across the river in Wilken Woods and when everyone said they were up for a hike anyway off they went.
They took a short cut along the riverbank and soon were crossing the bridge and entering Wilken Woods, a magic forest. Ari and Caper had been to the tree before so Caper led the way, a little over a mile on the road and then a slight veer to the north following a barely used woods trail.

We will be playing Just Quest in Tobbin's Shire, on the other side of Wilken Woods from Milyagon. I've been using the Hearth & Hillside Home dice tables for some low combat, explore the shire gaming and it's been great fun.

It seems that horses are the most common animal in fantasy while science fiction authors prefer cats. And also, of course, there be dragons, not just in fantasy but in science fiction as well.

I just started Gardens of the Moon, the first of ten novels in Canadian author Steven Erikson's high fantasy series the Malazan Book of the Fallen. I'm barely into it but I can say wizardry abounds.

Last week was Fantasy and Science Fiction and I did some short readings from the Lyonesse Trilogy by Jack Vance illustrating my idea that every NPC deserves at least two sentences. There is nothing like short descriptive text to help the DM portray the NPC in a believable manner. Jack Vance is a master.
