As always, changes are afoot.
When we started doing Inspired Unreality open game chat every week we were younger. And yet, somehow, even though we're retired, we now have more responsibilities. So we're going to have to scale back.
Instead of weekly we are moving to twice a month. On the first Saturday we will discuss fantasy and science fiction. On the third Saturday we will continue questing in Milyagon or Tobbins Shire.
So, tomorrow is the third Saturday and we will be questing. Please join us to play or just stop on by to say hi and chat for a few minutes. We're always glad to hear from you.
Inspired Unreality is held in the gamerplus chat rooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. There's more info and a link here.

01. DJ Hairy Larry presents Steve Wages and Bad Habit playing “La Grange”
02. Something Blue – Baker – 29 second spot
Thanks Marty, today we’re going to hear a ZZ Tops song performed by some Northeast Arkansas musicians.
Wherever you live, if you’re a hot guitarist, you’ve got plenty of competition. But if you live in Northeast Arkansas and you’re a hot blues guitarist you’re competing in a whole different class. Steve Wages was one of the finest blues guitarists I’ve ever heard. And he could play rock and country music too.
Steve Wages and Bad Habit featured Steve on guitar, Braden Byrd – bass, and Billy Spence – drums. A genuine power trio with Arkansas Roots. They always put on a great show whenever they performed at the Craighead Forest Bandshell.

01. DJ Hairy Larry presents Sonny Burgess and The Legenday Pacers playing “Today I Started Loving You Again”
02. Something Blue – Ranger – 29 second spot
Thanks Marty, today we’re going to hear a country song performed by a rock and roll band at KASU Bluesday Tuesday.
We would get a lot of top acts at Bluesday Tuesday but the toppest of all was the international touring act, Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers. They would play their Sun hits from the fifties as well as a lot of blues and rock and roll standards. And then, every so often, Sonny would sing a country song.

Saturday morning. Inspired Unreality. 11:00 Central. It's the first Saturday so our topic is fantasy and science fiction. Games, movies, books, televison, art, poetry. If it's fantasy and science fiction it's on topic.
I finished "Gideon The Ninth" and while I'm waiting for "Harrow The Ninth" I'm reading "The House In The Cerulean Sea" by TJ Klune. Megan recommended it and she also recommended a beautifully written book, "This Is How You Lose The Time War" by Amal El-Mohtar. She's reading it with the Eclectic Geekery fantasy/sf book club.

01. DJ Hairy Larry presents the Gary “El Buho” Gazaway playing “Summertime”
02. Something Blue – Valley – 29 second spot
Thanks Marty, today we’re hearing a George Gershwin song played by a Latin Jazz Band.
This podcast is a little bit different because I’m not playing a song I recorded or worked on in any way. But Gary Gazaway is a good friend of mine who has played at many KASU events including Bebopalooza and Jazz Thursday and he also played at Joe Lee’s funeral. So I”m stretching the definition of the Something Blue Archives a little bit to present this recording because it fits so well with my Something Blue show this week.

Next Saturday the topic will be fantasy and science fiction.
We had family game last Saturday with DM Carl, Courtney, Emily, Connor, Hairy Larry, and Vivian. I was having too much fun gaming with my grandkids to follow Vivian's lead into a much more creative ending. She was Clair the Cleric and she was converting the Spider Monsters. But we killed them first.
Not really my style. I find dice marathon combat boring but like I said I was right in there with the rest of the fighters. I do have to say the spiders had kidnapped the farmers son. They weren't really good spiders. But I need to pay closer attention to Vivian's lead. She comes up with the best stuff.

01. DJ Hairy Larry Presents the Over The Hill Gang at KASU Jazz Thursday
02. Something Blue – Lover Man – 29 second spot
Thanks Marty, today we’re going to hear some classic jazz recorded at KASU Jazz Thursday.
The Over The Hill Gang performed around Jonesboro for many years. Their repertoire included Dixieland, Ragtime, Swing, Blues, and Gospel. I knew some of the musicians in the band and I thought they would be a good fit for Jazz Thursday.

01. DJ Hairy Larry Presents Giant Steps at KASU Jazz Thursday
02. Something Blue – Amber – 29 second spot
Thanks Marty, today we’re featuring a bossa recorded at KASU Jazz Thursday.
The core group of Giant Steps was Craig Baker, trumpet; Joy Sanford, piano; Tom Mason, bass; and Mike Overall, drums. For Jazz Thursday they added Michael McGowan on tenor sax to fill out their quintet. These are all seasoned jazz professionals who lived and worked in Northeast Arkansas. Michael McGowan traveled in from Texas but he is a former Jonesboro resident.

Join us for open game chat on Inspired Unreality, Saturday morning at 11:00. This week it's bring your own topic, all gaming is on topic. Sometimes we write dice tables. Sometimes we just chat.
Next week we'll be adventuring in Tobbins Shire again at Eclectic Geekery in Walnut Ridge. This is a hybrid game played around the table and on the internet. Turns out the technical side of this may be easier than I thought. We shall see.
Inspired Unreality is held in the gamerplus chatrooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. For more information and a link go here.

Last week we discussed fantasy and science fiction, mostly fantasy. This week I've been reading Science Fiction, "The Calculating Stars" by Mary Robinette Kowal, winner of the Hugo and Nebula best novel awards in 2019. It's an alternate history based on space exploration and it is also an experiment in writing old school science fiction assuming that the novel is contemporaneous with the story. It's been very interesting and like all great science fiction it deals with a lot of difficult social questions concerning America then and now.
